A missing pregnant 17-year-old was found dead on Sunday afternoon, according to the Broken Link Foundation.
Maylashia Hogg was 9 months pregnant and was supposed to be induced on February 13, but found dead, according to officials.
BPD officers had been instructed by Chief Miller to patrol the city carefully in search of Hogg, as she was nine months pregnant at the time of her disappearance on February 8.
Hogg was last seen by her family at their Washington Street home, two blocks away from where her body was later found. Chief Miller personally notified the family of her death.
BPD, the S.C. Law Enforcement Division (SLED), and the Barnwell County Coroner’s Office are investigating. Crews remained on scene until after dark on Feb. 18.
The body has been transported to Newberry for an autopsy scheduled for Wednesday afternoon, according to Barnwell County Coroner Denise Gibson.
