A 43-year-old mother identified as Brandy Hutchins commit a double-murder suicide on Sunday afternoon in Polk County.
It was gathered that a custody dispute led the woman to end the lives of her two children before taking her own life.
Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd reveals that the distressing incident stemmed from a court order that required Hutchins to hand over her 10-year-old son to his ex-husband, who had traveled from Maine to Florida to collect the child.
Trendygists learned that the judge had set a deadline of 6 p.m. on Friday for the custody transfer but unfortunately, Hutchins failed to meet this deadline, prompting Polk County detectives to dedicate their weekend to locating the missing 10-year-old.
Authorities were taken by surprise after on Sunday at approximately 12:30 p.m., deputies arrived at a mobile home in the Waverly area of Lake Wales, where Hutchins was present with her 10-year-old son and 19-year-old daughter.
The children reportedly had different fathers. In a tragic turn of events, as law enforcement approached the residence, the 43-year-old mother is said to have taken the lives of her two children before fatally shooting herself.
