Military officers have announce their assumption of power in Gabon, the West African nation on Wednesday, August 30.

The development came after the military officers declared the nullification of the results from the recent Saturday election.

The military Identifying themselves as members of the CTRI (The Committee of Transition and Restoration of Institutions) rejected the poll where President Ali Bongo was officially declared the victor.

The soldiers announced, “We have chosen to safeguard peace by bringing an end to the incumbent regime.”
