El-Rufai Reportedly Withdraws Ministerial Interest, Recommends Replacement

The former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has reportedly withdrawn his interest in a potential ministerial appointment within the cabinet of President Bola Tinubu.

According to reports, the unexpected decision was revealed during a pivotal meeting between El-Rufai and President Tinubu on Tuesday.

Sources from within the presidency, speaking to Premium Times, disclosed that El-Rufai communicated his decision to President Tinubu during their meeting.

The former governor expressed his decision to step aside from pursuing a ministerial role and instead focus on contributing to Nigeria’s development as a private citizen.

Additionally, El-Rufai highlighted his intention to dedicate time to his ongoing doctorate program at a university in The Netherlands.

“He also told the president that he needed time to focus on his doctorate programme at a university in The Netherlands,” a source revealed.

Furthermore, in a surprising and proactive move, El-Rufai recommended a potential replacement for the ministerial role he was considering.

The former governor put forth the name of Jafaru Ibrahim Sani, emphasizing Sani’s exceptional utility and resourcefulness for Kaduna State and the nation as a whole.

Jafaru Ibrahim Sani is no stranger to governance and public service. He has previously served as commissioner in three significant ministries within Kaduna State: Local Government, Education, and Environment.

His experience and familiarity with the workings of the state administration make him a compelling choice for the proposed ministerial position.
