Family Of 5, Melgene Galpo, Aslyn Galpo And 3 Others Killed Before Being Set On Family

A deep sense of sorrow has descended upon the community of Lower Sumpong, Indahag, a locality in Cagayan de Oro, as a devastating fire claimed the lives of five individuals.

According to BFP Senior Inspector Kylie Lauzon, the fire ignited between 8:00 and 8:30 am and continued to rage until 10:01 pm when it was finally extinguished.

Tragically, subsequent revelations confirmed that the victims had perished in the inferno. The cause of the fire remains shrouded in mystery, with arson being considered as a possible explanation.

As the investigation, led by the police in conjunction with the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) 10, progresses, evidence of a preceding struggle has come to light.

This evidence includes the discovery of pools of blood and strands of hair from a woman located outside the house.

Inside the residence, a knife and scissors were found, along with injuries on the victims, suggesting that they may have endured harm before the fire’s outbreak.

Disturbingly, neighbors reported a strong smell of gasoline emanating from the house just before the fire broke out around 8:00 pm.

This has raised suspicions that the incident might be more than a random act of arson and could involve someone with a personal grievance against the family.
