Herdsmen Attack School In Plateau, Kill Newly Wed Couple

Bandits suspected to be herdsmen have unleashed terror on BECO Comprehensive Secondary School in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau state.

It was gathered that a newly married couple, fell victim to the brazen attack that unfolded on Monday afternoon, 14, August.

Sources familiar with the incident said the victims, identified as Mr. and Mrs. Rwang Danladi, were both teachers at the school located in Kwi community.

The incident happened as the victims were reportedly participating in a staff meeting within the school premises, where the school teachers had convened to compile student results ahead of the institution’s “Speech and Prize Giving Day.”

It was learned that the meeting was disrupted by the chilling presence of armed herdsmen, intruding the school compound with their cattle.

The situation escalated when the staff confronted the herdsmen and requested the removal of the cattle from the school environment. At this point, the armed herdsmen resorted to violence, drawing their weapons and unleashing a hail of gunfire upon the defenseless teachers.

The situation took another turn as the newlyweds, Mr. and Mrs. Rwang Danladi, were fatally shot dead and the Vice Principal of the school, Mr. Dalyop Emmanuel Ibrahim, was injured . He is currently receiving medical treatment at the Jos University Teaching Hospital.
