My Father Was Assassinated In My Presence – Teni

Nigerian singer, Teniola Apata, also known as Teni Makanaki, has revealed that she was only 2-years-old when her father, late Brig. Gen. Simeon Apata (retd.) was assainated in her presence.

Speaking in an interview with media personality Taymesan, the ‘Uyo Meyo’ crooner said that gunmen entered their home and murdered her father in the presence of the family, adding that the incident has affected her as she now has trust issues.

In the interview with Taymesan, who shared it on his Instagram #taymesan_ on Sunday, September 17, the ‘Case’ singer said, “Growing up with my father passing at such a young age, the trauma of losing my father at a young age affected me.”

“You know, him being assassinated in the presence of all of us and all that stuff. I was 2 at the time.

“Him passing away robbed me of a father figure. It sort of made me have trust issues growing up. Because they [gunmen] came into our house purposely to kill him.”

Teni’s father, late Brig. Gen. Simeon Apata (retd.), was assassinated on January 8, 1995.
