Pay Us The N30,000 You Promised Us – Ex Boko Haram Terrorists Protests

Ex members of the Islamist militia, Boko Haram, took to the streets of Maiduguri, Borno State’s capital, to protest alleged government abandonment.

No fewer than 6,900 ex-Boko Haram members are currently undergoing deradicalization and rehabilitation at the Hajj Camp in Maiduguri after surrendering to Nigerian security operatives.

The former terrorists came out of the camp in numbers to demand the N30,000 allowance promised by the government.

It was gathered that protest caused tension and traffic congestion on the Bulumkutu – Maiduguri Highway until the intervention of security operatives.

The former Boko Haram terrorists expressed disappointment due to neglect, insufficient food, and lack of welfare amenities earlier promised by the government.

The protestors stated that the government had promised to rehabilitate and reintegrate them into society, enabling them to live lawfully as responsible Nigerians.
