Police Arrest 6 Suspected Phone Snatchers And Thieves, Recover Stolen Items

Six individuals have been apprehended on suspicion of their involvement in criminal activities, and a substantial amount of stolen property has been successfully recovered.

The items recovered by detectives at the Auyo Divisional Headquarters included Android phones, a tiger generator, sewing machines, cooking oil, and illicit drugs.

On the 20th of October 2023, Saidu Suleiman, a 20-year-old resident of NTA, Tijjani Garba, aged 19 from Kwanar Madawaki, and 18-year-old Auwal Muhammad, hailing from Kasuwar Kuda, all belonging to Hadejia Local Government Area (LGA), were detained by the authorities. They were found in possession of four Android phones, strongly suspected to be stolen, as well as an unregistered Daylong operational motorcycle. These items have been confiscated and turned over to the Crime Branch for an in-depth investigation.

Upon interrogation, the suspects admitted to a coordinated effort to steal the phones from A.A. Mai Doki filling station located in Auyo LGA. The stolen phones have been traced back to their rightful owner, Rabiu Maigoro. Legal proceedings against the suspects are imminent following the completion of the investigation.

In a separate incident reported on the 21st of October 2023, Shemau Zakari, aged 31, reported a break-in at her residence in Katoge quarters, Kazaure LGA. She revealed that on the 20th of October at around 8:00 PM, unidentified individuals unlawfully entered her home and made off with two sewing machines valued at N60,000. Detectives from Kazaure Division acted promptly and apprehended 19-year-old Sani Jafaru, who was found in possession of the stolen sewing machines. The suspect has confessed to the crime and has a previous conviction for a similar offense. Legal proceedings will commence upon the conclusion of the investigation.

Furthermore, on the 21st of October 2023, Kamalu Saleh reported a theft from his shop in Sabuwar Unguwa quarters, Kiyawa LGA. Unknown culprits had broken in and made away with several items, including a watering generator, a tiger generator, and pipes.

Surveillance officers from Kiyawa Division promptly arrested 18-year-old Ya’u Ado, who was in possession of the stolen Tiger Generator on the same day. The suspect admitted to the crime, and legal action is pending as the investigation is finalized.

In a parallel case, on the 20th of October, Bashari Labbani reported a theft at Babura Police Station. Unknown individuals had broken into his shop and taken 25 liters of cooking oil.

Policemen from Babura Division, on a routine patrol, arrested 20-year-old Mamman Abdullahi from Kofar Yamma quarters, Babura LGA. The suspect was found with the stolen cooking oil, along with additional items such as four Robber Solutions, a bottle of a sock and die, and two wraps of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp. The suspect voluntarily confessed to the crime, and he will face prosecution following the conclusion of the investigation.
