Scores Killed As Train Ran Over Passengers In Jamtara

A major train accident took place near kalajharia railway station in the Jamtara district of Jharkhand, wherein MEMU train ran over passengers in the track.

Sources said, A fire incident rumour caused the passengers to deboard train 12554 Anga Express in a rush, due the panic and Chaos passengers didn’t saw that a high speed MEMU train was coming same time in the adjacent track where they all were standing.

The Exact number of deaths are not confirmed yet, although it is estimated that more than 12 people have lost their life.

Rescue operation is in progress, Difficulties have been faced as accident took place at night, Medical teams and Ambulances have been rushed to the spot.

Few people said, Fire incident is a false news, 2 people were walking in the track who were crushed by high speed train. No damage to the tracks and electrical supply has been reported, train operations will be normalized in the route soon. Further investigation is in progress. Low light condition is a challenge there.

Jharkhand Chief minister Champai Soren has expressed condolence over the incident, ” Saddened by the sad news, of the train accident near Kaljharia station of Jamtara. May God grant peace to the departed souls and give strength to the bereaved family to bear this difficult time of grief. The administration team is engaged in relief and rescue work on the spot. I wish a speedy recovery to those injured in the accident” he posted on X ( formerly twitter)
