Supreme Court Abuja Is Currently On Fire (Video)

The Supreme Court bore witness to pandemonium when a sudden and enigmatic fire erupted, prompting a hasty retreat of a 7-man panel of Justices, led by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Dahiru Musdapher.

This unnerving incident unfolded at a critical juncture during the hearing of a case involving First Bank of Nigeria.

Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Chief Amechi Nwaiwu, SAN, was the first to spot the eerie flames silently encroaching upon the left wing of the court.

The courtroom, brimming with over fifteen Senior Advocates of Nigeria and other attendees due to the substantial political matters scheduled for the day, was engulfed in palpable panic.

Recognizing the escalating peril posed by the fire, the CJN took immediate action, ordering a halt to the case.

The seven justices made a swift exit to their chambers, while Senior Advocates of Nigeria and other court users hastily sought refuge through the court’s double exit points.

Although the diligent efforts of lawyers and court officials eventually subdued the flames, the exact origin of the fire remains a perplexing mystery.

A court clerk, attributing the recurring issue to the electrical wiring system, lamented that sporadic sparks and flames during proceedings have plagued the apex court for the past year.

As a result of this disconcerting incident, the court adjourned abruptly at approximately 11:55 am and will reconvened at 12:20 pm.

Distinguished legal figures present during the event included Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN, the national President of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Chief J.B Daudu, SAN, Dr. Alex Iziyon, SAN, Chief Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, Onyechi Ikpeazu, SAN, Yusuf Ali, SAN, and several other luminaries.
